Dear Parents,
Welcome to another season of William Monroe Athletics.
As we head into this season,we are excited by each of the student/athletes that make up our rosters. We believe they all have a part to play in our success going forward and bring unique skill sets and talents to our programs. Our coaches spend an incredible amount of time evaluating each one of the players so that we can make decisions that are best for the team. As student/athletes, it is their responsibility to discuss playing time and other matters with our coaches directly. We believe this is an incredibly valuable communication skill and a pivotal moment in the maturation process. We are open to any concerns you have about your child’s health, grades, personal life or general well-being. We expect you to foster their growth by encouraging them to initiate and be accountable for conversations that regard playing time, roles, and other concerns. Direct communication between your child and their coach will be well respected and lead to greater clarity for everyone.
We have been very fortunate to have incredible support over the years, even when traveling to away competitions. We always look forward to seeing you on the road supporting our young athletes. One of the most important things that you can do as a parent is to be present and supportive of your child. We remind you to be respectful of the game officials and other fans at all times. Inappropriate comments directed towards them only creates a negative environment and experience for the team and may result in removal from the contest. We also ask that during the game, you avoid conversations with your child, to allow them to be fully engaged in the team and the game. Interruptions from outside the fence are not helpful and cause undue distraction. Encourage them and cheer them on, but please allow them to focus on the contest.
Sincerely,
WMHS Coaches and Administration
