WMHS WALL of HONOR application

William Monroe High School Wall Of Honor

The William Monroe HIgh School Wall of Honor will recognize those individuals who through their accomplishments have brought distinction and pride to our school and community through participating, coaching, or supporting Virginia High School League Athletics and Activities.

Selection Committee:

The selection committee will determine which applicants/candidates will be selected for the Wall of Honor. The committee shall be comprised of the following:

Current William Monroe Activities Director (or his/her designee).
Representative from the current WMHS administration.
WMHS coach (Current and/or former)
WMHS Faculty Member (Current and/or former)
WMHS Community Member selected by individuals in #1 and #2 positions.

The selection committee will have no less than 5 members and no more than 9.

Members will be selected based on their knowledge of WMHS past and present. The

current AD (or designee) will act as the committee chairperson.

The selection committee will meet annually in a month determined by the Committee

Chairperson to select the new members of the Wall of Honor. The committee members

will be tasked with seeking nominations and researching the qualifications of the

applicants/candidates to ensure their credentials.

Eligibility:

Students: All students who represented WMHS in VHSL sanctioned sports or activities while attending WMHS are eligible for nomination into the Wall of Honor. In special circumstances as determined by the committee by a majority vote a waiver for consideration for membership can be granted to individuals who did not participate in a VHSL sanctioned sport or activity. Students will be eligible eight years after graduating from WMHS.

Coaches/Sponsors: All individuals who coached/sponsored a VHSL sport or activity for a minimum of five years at WMHS are eligible for the Wall of Honor.

Contributors: Individuals who over many years worked/volunteered for the betterment of the VHSL programs at WMHS and significantly impacted WMHS in a positive manner.

Nominations:

To be considered for the Wall of Honor a nomination application must be completely filled out and submitted to the Activities Director by the deadline date May 30th of the current year to be considered for the Fall induction. Applications received late will automatically go into the pool for the following year. Nominations may be submitted by anyone. It is recommended that any supporting documentation be provided with the application. (Newspaper articles, copies of certificates, ect.) If not selected the application will remain in the pool for up to 5 years. At that time they must be renominated or they will not continue to be considered. The selections will be based on the merit of the application and supporting documentation.

Considerations:

Selection to the WMHS Wall of Honor will be based on an individual's contributions to VHSL sponsored programs at WMHS. Or in special circumstances as determined by the committee following their time at WMHS.
